A Journey Into Sound 008 June 2009 - Part 1

Whew!  OK, after doing the MCast Sessions on Proton Radio mix last month (I’ll toss it up here eventually), I also somehow got banned through our firewall for a little while.  Nice to know it works when it bans an admin from the site :)

Anyway, here we go and time to cook up some mixes for June.  Both are short 60-minutes this time…stuff I made for another restaurant to play later at night for the nightlife, then went back and re-tweaked them a bit for here.

Part 1 is the main course…electro/disco house.

T/L:

Pete Heller - Sabotage (Tom Stephan’s Chumbo Mix)
Heartache - Heartattack
Roger Lee - Wake ‘N Bake
Agent 001 - Re-Dan (Chris Micali Mix)
Ellektra vs. N-Joi - Anthem 2008
Agent 001 - Re-Dan (Original Mix)
Golden Bug - LookLookLook (In Flagranti Mix)
Steve Porter - Pixy Stix (Island 9 Remix)

Grum - Sound Reaction (The Revolving Eyes Disco Fizz Mix)
Casio Social Club - Count Your Lucky Stars (The Diogenes Club Remix)
Charlie Winston - Like A Hobo (Ibiza 2009 Dirty Bergeon Remix)
Le Batman - Call Hooters 1278

Enjoy.

Terminal Velocity 003 on MCast June 2009 - Part2 DJ Alexandar & N-Tchbl

rsz_alexandar_and_ntchbl

The second part of Terminal Velocity 003, consists of a superb guest mix duet, made by two Serbian DJs and friends.

Boys and gals, Terminal Velocity presents DJ Alexandar and N-Tchbl…

Below are a few words about them:

DJ ALEXANDAR | i:FACE Serbia

He was born and raised in the capital city of Serbia, Belgrade. He spent his childhood surrounded by people whose lives where dedicated to music, which was gradually introduced into his life as well. Having finished his primary and secondary music school ( the guitar being his “first love” ), he acquired the basic theoretical knowledge, experience and an acoustic ear. While growing up, he listened to classical music as well as bands such as Depeche Mode, Simply Red, Brian Eno, Leftfield, Mono and many other bands in which you could suspect the beginning of electronic music. This same combination of electronic music and the guitar is responsible for the work he does today.

After many years of listening and absorbing the world Dance scene, Sasha, Deep Dish, John Digweed and Hernan Cattaneo have left the deepest impression on him. In 2003, for the first time he expressed his wish and tried himself out as a DJ.

A few years later he becomes a member of Kinetic Vibe. Today, 2 years later, he performs alone on the music scene, under the name ‘’Alexandar’’. In his career he had worked with names such as Silicone Soul, Federico Epis, Snake Sedrick, James Benitez, Ladytron … He worked in most of the clubs in Belgrade ( EXPO XXI, SKC, Barutana, Plastic….), Serbia, Monte Negro and Croatia. His mixes were the guest mixes in shows on Frisky Radio, Proton Radio and Pure FM. In his sets, Alexandar invests most of his energy, ideas and in his constant contact with the audience, he creates dynamic sets which tend to move them.

By the end of 2007 he took a part of the national DJ competition and won the third place in “TECHNOLOGY – The best DJ annual awards”

Frequent travellings to surrounding countries were the top of 2008 year as the beginning of cooperation with Dubsupliers (Danny Way & Lukka A.) concerning the production plans. First half of 2009 will bring first releases for Dub Records, and also the remixes of the same that will be signed from the leading producers and DJ’s. In this moment, he is working on improvement of production. Very soon, he will start his own show on Frisky radio, where he will represent domestic and foreign producers from all over Europe and all over the world.

N-TCHBL | i:FACE Serbia

Marija Nikolic aka. N-tchbl, born in 1984. in Nis, southern Serbia. Through all of her childhood science and music were the main spots of her world, nothing was that interesting and played more of a role in her life. A teacher in primary school spotted her ability to ‘catch by ear’ and quickly reproduce the solo parts of the songs played on the classes of music education she attended, and soon forced her to start learning piano, but it lasted no longer than a couple of months cuz of the financial inabilities caused by the ’90s atmosphere of the country she lived in. But she continued practicing her playing skills on the musical education classes in school and at home on Yamaha keyboards, oftenly playing piano on school celebrations and ceremonials. Then she fell in love with a guitar, again, easily catching the solos and chords from the songs and playing it with no tabs seen, just with a little help of a ‘catchy ear’. But the guitar has stayed there in the past being only a hoby and a great love, even nowadays.
Then at the end of ’90s she discovered electronic music, thanks to her brother and first rave parties happening in her town at that time. Prodigy and Kraftwerk raised her to the whole new world of something that was not that classical like piano or guitar were at those times. It was a pure inovation in the world of music for her. In the times of revealing the differencies betwen genres, names like Deep Dish, Satoshi Tomiie, John Digweed, Sasha, Dave Seaman and Hernan Cattaneo brought the feeling that progressive house with a soft spots of trance inside was something that suits her the most of all of the music left in this world. Collecting artists and their pieces of that kind, trying to catch every second of it, going to parties to hear how ‘big names’ are doing it live… she fell in love with it like with nothing else before! Progressive house was something she wanted to live… and love.
In 2006th she decided to try herself out at the first ever party of hers in a small underground club called ‘CLub 17’ in her hometown. A couple of parties more of that kind followed in next couple of months and then she stopped, being burdened by university duties and striving to finish those ones first. In march 2007th she hitted Belgrade for the first time, playing 5hrs set in an underground Belgrade clubs Infinity and Biro which was a great expirience, seeing people reacting unexpectedly extatic to the music she played. Being listened then by a couple of capital DJs and getting compliments and pursuasions for going forward and climbing the stairs of being a DJ, she gained confidence and continued doing it.
Not long ago she won the Serbia Uprising! contest on PureFM and was given a chance to present her country together with the most famous DJs, playing deep and dark progressive, the sound that’s making her unique and easily recogniseable amongst the rest of the DJs coming from Serbia. In 2008th she became a part of an “i:FACE Agency”, together with her friends and collegues DJ Alexandar, Federico Epis, Kintar & Rex, Danny Way, Ascaloon, Marko Nikolic etc.
Her music was broadcasted on almost all of the worldwide popular radiostations, amongst other less known tribalmixes.org, frisky radio, danceradio.gr, pure.fm, insomniafm.com, streetfm.com.mk, digitalradio-fr.com, being a guest of many wellknown DJs in this area.
In June 2009th she’s starting her own monthly exclusive project called “Subliminal” on insomniafm.com, to present the whole new side of deep and dark progressive sounds, the female way, progressive sounds that made her fall in love with progressive back in the previous decade and let that sound never be forgotten.

Preserve The Essence 014 on MCast June 2009 - Part3 Hyline

Hyline (Carsten) - JetlagDigital Label

Hyline is a prominent dj/producer, a friend, and manager of JetlagDigital Label from Germany. Hyline will soon be joining MCast roadster in residence, and we can’t wait to have him on board. In the meantime here is his bio:

DJ, Member of Adult Music alongside DJ Taucher since 2005. A&R manager of Jetlag Digital, Co-Producer of Mannover since 2007. Resident @ Friskyradio.com.
Hyline hosted several radioshows in the past and plays in over thousand Shows.
Since June 2008 he plays exclusively at San Francisco’s Radiostation Friskyradio.com, which is the most important progressive radiostation worldwide, well known in the international scene. His Shows are Adult Music with DJ Taucher and Advanced Views together with Shane.
His ‘adult’ approach to progressive music lead to increasing numbers of his audience and the list of guest DJ’s seems to be a who-is-who of the progressive house music scene. Hyline can always be seen live at several locations and numerous events around Europe.
For the unique progressive sound Taucher propelled as both dj and producer, he found the characteristic name „Adult Music“. Far from sounding presumptious, he simply tried to express his crucial artistic and personal development. And 2005 Taucher involved DJ Hyline from Hannover in his project Adult Music. Whenever you come across the claim „Adult Music“, you can be sure good old Taucher and Hyline are involved. In no time, the new name not only turned programmatic but also magnetic, and not only for adults.
Hyline released as Mannover (together with his friend and partner Yamin) original and remixed material on BIT Records Mexico, Atlant Digital and Jetlag Digital. He mixed a label compilation for BIT Records Mexico and his first own release and a Label Compilation will arrive soon.
In 2008, Hyline is signed as A&R Manager on Jetlag Digital and together
with Shane (Labelowner), he releases 28 EP’s and 3 artist-albums in the same
year, all available worldwide in around 70 online-shops. Moreover, the newcomer
label Jetlag Digital makes it into the Top 100 progressive-house sales charts a
several times!

Hyline greatest signings in his very A&R Manager career: Harry Lemon8, Moshic, Polefolder, DJ Taucher, Fady Ferraye, Nick Hogendoorn, Kintar, Retroid, Python, Frangellico, Marcelo Vasami, Oliver Morgenroth, aso.

Hyline about himslef: “Led by pure emotion, my style unconsciously evolved into what I call “deep, dark and progressive” in an Adult Music way. It is wonderful to live, hear and feel this kind of music. It never ceases to amaze and challenge you, it gives you pleasure and is always present but never obtrusive - every time a revelation, music of my heart and soul.”

Listen:React 023 - Still Celebrating - Part 1

Well here we are again, bringing you some of the best beats a man can ever bring to any music loving individual, yes i know i deserve most of the credit, and yes i truly think i should be rewarded for such a great job and that all of you should buy me beer the next time you see me, or food, or maybe some nachos, whichever you might choose, but at the moment im just grateful that all of you are  listening to these amazing guests that I, with hard labour bring you every month, well actually its not that big of an effort, but hey, you should worship me for doing this, i should be your musical god! go on now and build me a church, with some turntables and beer…………..Ok enough of me, lets talk about you, oh no wait, i need to talk a bit more about me, about life and how things are shapping in the “Cj Tari Daddy Camp”. As some of you might know, my wife is expecting our second child so im very excited about that, right now we’re at the breaking point in which she’s ready to give birth, so im just waiting for that precise moment in which we’ll make the always alarming trip to the hospital. On other news, im almost ready to lauch what would be the new label im working on with fellow asociate Raymundo Mendoza(LowMidHigh/Dialtone/Unfoundsound) were just waiting for beatport, so hopefully youll hear a lot more of me and Raymundo in the time to come, so once you see my name in beatport, please buy the tracks, even if you hate them, ill love you for that. Ok, so now to the musical part, as you already know, our last show was our anniversary show, in which we had huuuuggggeeee guests, well, like the tittle says, were still celebrating, and this month i also have huuuuuuggggggeeeee guest, did i say huuuuuuuugggggggeeeee, shiiit, i meant HUUUUUUGGGGGGGEEEEEE guests, these guests are so huge, they make me look bad, and thats not that easy to acomplish(riiiiight). Ok, so here you have it folks, this months guests are the one and only Mr. Martin Eyerer and also, Mr. Gorge, and just to point out, both mixes are fucking insane!! insane i tell you.
Ceeeelebrate Good Times C'mon!!

First off we have Mr. Eyerer who i really dont think needs any introduction, but hey, heres the info so you can read a bit about the man himself:

Martin Eyerer
The Man Himself

When Martin Eyerer tells a story, everybody listens. Martin reports of his journeys throughout the continents, telling stories of wild escapades in a taxi across the Brazilian jungle through to the impressions of Earth’s capitals and the colourful array of citizens that inhabit them, and obviously of his many Gigs in these foreign lands. Those foreign places quickly become familiar territory when he sets up his digital DJ-system and starts to play that thumping first track because what he plays is groovy Tech House and the sound is a world language of its own that is euphorically absorbed through sweaty pores and pumping glands.

His passion is eminently clear when he starts to talk about his experiences and such is his passion and enthusiasm for the music that one could easily think it was all totally new to him. But it isn’t. Martin Eyerer has been a DJ for 20 years – and just as many years a producer, label owner, radio show producer. Throw in his two young children and it seems that the energy never leaves his side.

Martin Eyerer is not a laptop artist, but a true musician. His high-end studio meets the highest requirements and has become an interdisciplinary interface for mastering (whether it is Hip Hop, Pop or Electronic) and he is also co-producing several mainstream acts (Eyerer e.g.became a gold record in UK). On top of all this, the Tech-House Posse around him like Gui Boratto,Oliver Koletzki, Toni Rios, Stephan Hinz, Namito, Chopstick, Oliver Klein or Robert Babicz come to ‘his house’ to jam. It is a small circle of friends who share the same musical interest and who put 200% in to every release they do.

Whether collaborations, solo Works, Remixes or Compilations, all his works appear almost monthly on dance-floor dominating labels, like Kling KLong,Systematic,Audiomatique,
Great Stuff, Kickboxer and on English big names like Renaissance or i/o records. The most unbelievable aspect of this is the variety of styles Martin stands for. There is no segment from Deep house to minimal Techno that Eyerer is not in control of, always keeping his focus on the dance-floor. This consistently high-quality of output results in rocking world-wide floor-fillers, spun by the most well-known DJs. Beyond that, hits like Make My Day (Haunting) by Eyerer and Chopstick feat. Zdar/Cassius made their way into the A-rotation of English music television.

As an important platform for his music Martin Eyerer has founded his own labels - Kling Klong and Session Deluxe. Due to the conscientious release policy (releasing artists like Koletzki, Namito, Oliver Klein, Babicz and Eyerer himself the Label boss  was able to establish an independent sound between electro, minimal and tech-house on Kling Klong and more tooly, housy and underground on Session Deluxe. Releases of both Labels always enter the top 20 of all sales and download charts for electronic music.

Peak time is the best time in a DJ-set, but in Martin Eyerers opinion, you have to work for it as a DJ - there is no way to force it. With that philosophy he builds up his sets, using the newest material and unfolds an oppressive, sizable Groove. Martin Eyerer does not try to get through the night with the current hits. Instead, he travels his very own sound-spectrum in one intuitively construed DJ-set. These legendary sets make their way around the globe resulting in Martin playing regularly in all parts of the world.

But Martin wants to reach more people than only those who frequent nightclubs. That’s why he regularly works on mix compilations, e.g. his own series on Session Deluxe. He has also set up same called Session De Luxe – a national weekly radio-show that goes out live every Sunday evening on Sunshine live - Germany’s biggest station for dance music, and it’s on this platform that Eyerer presents all the latest releases for his hungry following to devour as they polish of their weekend’s activities on sofas, in bedrooms or in the car on their way home after visiting their parents for Sunday lunch in the country. By himself or with guests like e.g. Bodzin, Anthony Rother, Chardronnet, Huntemann, Gregor Tresher, Abe Duque, Thomas Schumacher, John Selway or Shlomi Aber, Session de Luxe never disappoints. But not only are the monologues important - Martin also involves the listeners, giving everyone the chance to ask questions about anything concerning dance music.

In 2008 he released his debut Album on Kling Klong named Word Of Mouth.
It was the next step in establishing him as an international player. The album was released in 12 countries and exported to all the world. Feedback from the  media was overwhealming. This  and the fact that Martin was supported with plays and respect by most of the international dj league lead to a more than expected number of sales.
All in all Word Of Mouth was a big success. Martins first single out of the album “furthermore” came along with mixes by Marc Romboy and Oliver Klein. The next follow up will be cave canem incl mixes by Gui Boratto, Robert babicz and Someone Else.
For 2009 already dj gigs and tours are booked for Brasil,Argentina,Chile, Mexico,China,Japan,India and Australia. Also scheduled studiodates with a few other famous artists and finally martin will start working on his second longplayer in Autumn.

Cheers and please enjoy all 3 parts of this your celebration.

Taking a trip through all kinds of electronic music he finally came back to house and techno music influenced by deep Chicago house sound and techhouse.

In 2005 he met Nick Curly and started the imprint 8bit records which grew up to a worldwide respected label with artists like Johnny D, Sis, Afrilounge, Gruber & Nuernberg, Audiofly, Peace Division and many newcomers always trusting in an own special sound fitting to the basic sound of the label. His own productions and remixes appear on labels like Destined Records, Suruba, Murmur, Plastic City, Freerange, 8bit, Ministry of Sound and with his radio partner Greg Silver on Yellow Tail Records. Together with Greg Silver he presents the “Plastic City Radio Show” on Sonica Radio Ibiza, and the sunshine live house edition on radio sunshine live.

Listen:React023 - Still Celebrating - Part 3

As always, this is the 3rd and final part of this months episode, where i feature the best out of the 3 mixes……..well actually not, its just my new mix,  which this month its filled with some housey goodness of the tech house brand. Also wanted to add that this mix right here was inspired by a new discovery i just did, which to me is a huuuuuggggeeeee discovery, yes huge, why you ask? well because the one thing that i discovered is this brand of beer that ive never ever had in my life, now i know a lot of you might think, oh god, its just a beer for God’s sake, well folks to me beer represents about 1/3 of my happiness, yes i know in the not so distant future it might represent 1/3 of my doom, but right now, i truly dont care, i care about the present and about this beer; Ok so i go to the store and i see this beer on sale, now just the 2 words put together should bring any man to his knees “beer & sale”, so i tough,  you had me on “beer…….”, the beer in question is Spaten, i know some folks in big citys might already be experts on such brand, but for me, a guy who lives in “Bud” country,  seeing these type of “international” brands is very eye catching, so without thinking i grab a 24 pack, instead of my usual beer choice, at $19.99 a 24 pack, i say its a very very good price for such an alcoholic beauty.  Ok, so on with the interesting part,  as i put these happyness filled suckers in ice i decide to pop one open, giving it a try, now, seeing that this is a German brand, my hopes are already up, since ive yet to taste a shitty german beer, well as i engulf on such a tasty treat i realize how “uber” delicious this thing is, i mean, it almost brought tears to my eyes, it had everything, flavor,  richness and most importantly a very well respected amount of alcohol in it. So please next time youre at your local licor store please buy Spaten,  dont know if you personally will love it but take it from me, its 34238300 times  better than any “Bud”.
